Standard private-vehicle entry covers the vehicle’s occupants
Checked on 4 November 2026, the NPS fee page lists a seven-day private, noncommercial vehicle pass at 30 US dollars from 22 May through 31 October and 20 dollars from 1 November through 21 May. The listed vehicle category covers capacity of fifteen passengers or fewer and includes the occupants; passengers do not each buy another standard vehicle pass.
Visitors entering on foot or by bicycle who are sixteen or older are listed at 15 dollars per person for seven days. Children under sixteen do not need that individual entry pass. Commercial vehicles and other categories have separate rules, so do not use a private-car calculation to interpret the price of an organized tour.

Entry reservations and payment are different questions
NPS currently says that vehicle reservations are not required to enter Crater Lake. Paying in advance may save time, but it is not the same as reserving a parking space, guaranteeing road access or securing a place on a programme. Weather and construction restrictions continue to apply even when the entrance fee has already been paid.
The park is cashless for entrance payment. The official page lists debit and credit cards and supported digital-wallet payment. Keep the required pass and identification accessible, and understand how a digital pass will be shown if reception is limited. Do not rely on a purchase email as a substitute where the issuing authority requires the actual pass.
The 2026 annual-pass rules distinguish residency
The current fee page lists the America the Beautiful resident annual pass at 80 dollars for US citizens and residents, and the nonresident annual pass at 250 dollars. Eligibility and identification requirements matter. Older articles describing one 80-dollar annual pass for every visitor no longer provide a reliable basis for a new 2026 purchase.
Crater Lake’s 55-dollar park annual pass is currently displayed as available to US citizens and residents. Its listed coverage includes Crater Lake, Lava Beds, Lassen Volcanic and Whiskeytown under the pass’s terms. Do not recommend it to every international visitor without checking eligibility. Compare a pass against the parks and entry arrangements you will actually use, rather than assuming annual always means cheaper.
Do not add the separate nonresident surcharge to Crater Lake
NPS introduced a 100-dollar per-person nonresident fee at eleven named parks for visitors aged sixteen and over. Crater Lake is not on that published list. A report about the surcharge at Yosemite or another listed park should therefore not be copied into a Crater Lake budget as though it applies at every national park.
The official nonresident guidance also states that fee-free days from 2026 apply to US residents, with nonresidents paying applicable fees. That is separate from the fact that Crater Lake is not a surcharge park. If your wider holiday includes other national parks, check each park and the pass rules together; the correct calculation can differ substantially from a Crater Lake-only visit.
A pass does not book the rest of the trip
Entrance coverage does not reserve a lodge room, campsite, seasonal concession service or regional activity. Those products have their own availability, charges and cancellation terms. A backcountry permit is another distinct requirement for overnight wilderness trips, even though NPS lists the permit itself as free. Read the overnight guide before assuming one payment settles every permission.
During the 2026–2028 Cleetwood project, public boat tours are not a current budget item to purchase speculatively. The GetYourGuide products verified on this site are outside-park Klamath Falls activities. Their prices do not represent national-park admission or a lake tour. Keep each booking’s location and actual inclusions visible in the comparison.
Compare a cheap distant room with its complete driving cost
A lower room price can be offset by extra fuel, a longer approach, parking charges at other places or a lost opportunity for a second lake view. Conversely, a more expensive gateway room may not be worth it if the trip’s main purpose is a regional resort stay. Calculate the actual route through open entrances rather than comparing straight-line distances.
Include taxes, required room fees, breakfast arrangements, equipment rental and any activity extras once only. If a quote is per person, multiply it by the group size before comparing it with a whole-room or whole-vehicle total. The accommodation guide identifies actual properties and explains why room categories, kitchens and bathrooms can change the value of the offer.
Use the calculator for arithmetic, then apply judgement
The quote tool on this page compares two complete group totals in the same currency. Enter your own verified figures, with the base price and mandatory extras separated. It does not fetch current hotel rates, convert currencies or determine whether a tour is appropriate. A cheaper total is a calculation, not a recommendation.
After comparing totals, consider cancellation flexibility, the exact overnight location and whether the itinerary leaves enough time for the main experience. Keep a record of the terms that apply to your dates. The most useful saving may be choosing a coherent day or a practical overnight instead of paying for a route that creates unnecessary driving and stress.
Other entry categories, senior passes and fee-free days
The NPS fee page also lists a seven-day motorcycle pass at 25 dollars from 22 May to 31 October and 15 dollars from 1 November to 21 May, and a 15-dollar snowmobile pass from 1 November to 15 June. Commercial tours are priced by seating capacity, for example 25 dollars plus 15 dollars per passenger for a sedan with up to six seats. US citizens and residents aged 62 or over can choose a 20-dollar senior annual pass or an 80-dollar senior lifetime pass.
NPS fee-free days in 2026 apply only to US citizens and residents; the remaining date this year is 11 November, Veterans Day. Non-residents pay the normal entrance fee on those days. A fee-free day does not open closed roads or facilities, and in November the winter road pattern still applies.

Questions before you go
Do international visitors pay an extra US$100 at Crater Lake?
Crater Lake is not among the eleven parks on NPS’s published nonresident-surcharge list checked for this edition. Standard Crater Lake entry still applies unless covered by an eligible valid pass.
Is the America the Beautiful annual pass still US$80 for everyone?
No. The 2026 official information distinguishes an US$80 resident annual pass and an US$250 nonresident annual pass. Eligibility and identification requirements apply.
Do I need a timed vehicle reservation?
NPS currently says no vehicle-entry reservation is required at Crater Lake. You still need the appropriate entrance fee or pass, and separate reservations for lodging or activities.
Does the seven-day vehicle pass charge every passenger separately?
The listed qualifying private-vehicle pass covers the vehicle and its occupants. Individual walking or cycling entry and commercial-tour categories follow different rules.
